privacy policy
Brick Discovery is a directory. This page explains what we actually collect, store, and log when you use it — nothing more, nothing padded with boilerplate we don't mean.
What this covers
There are no accounts on Brick Discovery. There's nothing to sign up for, no profile, no password. This policy covers the handful of things the site does behind the scenes while you browse: analytics, the one thing we save in your browser, standard hosting logs, and what happens when you click through to a tool's own website.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which tools people find useful. It only loads after you grant consent through the cookie-consent banner shown on your first visit — until then, and unless you grant it, GA doesn't load at all. When it does load, it sets its own cookies and records things like page views, referrer, coarse location, and device or browser type. We also record actions such as adding or removing a favorite, opening a tool or feed item, using search filters, and viewing weekly reports or creator features. These events identify the public tool or feature and where the action happened.
Rejecting consent keeps GA from loading, and so does having Global Privacy Control (GPC) enabled in your browser — we treat GPC as an opt-out by default, even before you've made a choice in the banner.
What's stored in your browser
We save your light/dark theme choice, and — if you use it — your favorites list and a cache of the feed items on your My Feed page, in your browser's local storage. The saved favorites list and feed cache stay on your device. If you accept analytics, individual favorite actions are measured as described above. We don't send your complete saved list or search text in these custom events.
Specifically: bd:favorites holds the slugs
of the tools you've favorited, and bd:feedcache:v1 holds a short-lived cache of the
RSS/YouTube items fetched for your favorited tools, so My Feed loads faster on your next visit.
Your cookie-consent choice is also stored locally in your browser. You can change it through Cookie settings in the footer; rejecting analytics stops further tracking in that tab.
Server logs & hosting
Brick Discovery is hosted on Vercel. Like any hosting provider, Vercel keeps standard request logs as part of serving the site — things like IP address, user agent, the path you requested, and a timestamp. We don't run any separate logging or tracking on top of that.
Outbound links
Links to a tool's own website route through a /go/ redirect on our side before sending you on.
Each click is logged there — a timestamp and which tool was clicked — so we can see which listings
are useful, and then the redirect happens.
Since there are no accounts, that click record isn't tied to any identity.
Affiliate links
None of the links on Brick Discovery are affiliate links today. When the /go/ redirect layer above ships, some outbound links may carry an affiliate key. That will never
change which tools are listed or how they're ranked — the catalog reflects what's useful, not
what pays.
What we don't do
No accounts, no newsletter, no selling or sharing your data with third parties, no ad networks, and no fingerprinting.
